Odds slashed on Crystal Palace hiring Frank Lampard as new manager after latest twist

Oliver Glasner is set to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season after what has been a turbulent month at Selhurst Park.

Despite signs that the coach could lead the Eagles to another memorable campaign, their form has collapsed in recent weeks.

Defeats against Macclesfield and Sunderland have now seen Glasner become the most likely manager to leave the Premier League next, with Palace’s campaign on the verge of collapse.

Therefore, a new coach could be needed through the door before the end of the season, with Frank Lampard increasingly tipped to be in the Selhurst Park dugout next.

Frank Lampard 10/1 to take over at Crystal Palace next

According to talkSPORT on 20 January, Lampard is believed to be a strong contender to take over from Glasner.

The former Everton boss has done a great job so far this season, with Coventry on track for Premier League promotion.

Palace owner Steve Parish is a big admirer of Lampard. However, it remains to be seen if the Chelsea legend would be prepared to swap Coventry for Palace if he oversees their promotion back to the top-flight.

Nevertheless, the bookies believe his arrival at Selhurst Park is increasingly likely, with Oddschecker now confirming that his odds on one site have been reduced to 10/1.

Who is the current favourite to take over at Crystal Palace?

Currently, the favourite to replace Glasner is Roger Schmidt, according to one bookmaker.

The former PSV and Benfica manager is 3/1 to come in, with the 58-year-old currently being a Global Football Adviser for the J League.

Following this is Gareth Southgate, who has been consistently linked to the Palace job in recent weeks, and Jose Bordalas, who are both 5/1.

Potential outsiders include Thomas Frank and Inigo Perez, who are both currently 8/1.

Calls for Frank to be sacked by Tottenham have gotten louder in recent weeks after a poor start at the North London club.

For now, the owners have stuck by the Dane, but if results don’t improve, it is unlikely that this will continue.

However, it remains to be seen if Frank would be willing to return to management so quickly if Spurs pull the trigger in the coming weeks or months.
