Off the boil: These three Leeds players should be axed for Bristol City clash
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Leeds have slumped to back-to-back defeats in recent weeks and manager Garry Monk needs to add something different in order to change their fortunes around.
The Whites take on Bristol City on Tuesday night at Elland Road and Football Insider identifies which three players need to be axed for that game.
Pablo Hernandez – The 31-year-old has been off the boil for Monk’s team during their past four matches and something needs to change to get more from the team in the attacking third. Kemar Roofe was benched for the last game and should replace the Spaniard in the team. Roofe would add more pace and directness to the side as Hernandez has failed to link up with striker Chris Wood in the last two matches which has cost them dearly.
Liam Cooper – Most of the time, he steps into a centre-back role, the 25-year-old looks nervy and brings a lack of confidence to the club’s defensive line. He tried filling the boots of Pontus Jansson last time out and it is fair to say he was all over the shop during that game. It is difficult replacing Jansson, but the quicker they can get him back the better.
Ronaldo Vieira – The midfielder is still developing into a player as this season will be a huge learning curve for the academy product. One aspect of his game, he needs to improve on is his consistency as well as adding that steel to the team. Monk should bring in Eunan O’Kane for the Tuesday clash and change the midfield around as he searches for a much-needed win. O’Kane will bring that experience and all-round drive needed in the middle of the park.
In other Leeds news, supporters have urged Garry Monk to start this 24-year-old against Bristol City.
