‘Give them the 3 points now’ – Rangers fans react to announcement about Celtic clash

Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter after Bobby Madden was named as the referee for Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Celtic Park – and Rangers fans are less than happy.

The Scottish FA announced the news on their official website on Wednesday.

Madden took charge of the last Old Firm clash at Celtic Park, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and has now been given his second to take control of.

The Light Blues currently trail Celtic by 14 points, but play Motherwell on Wednesday night as they look to close the gap on their rivals before the derby.

Gers fans were unhappy with the decision to let Madden take charge of the game with one claiming the SPFL would be “as well give (Celtic) the 3 points now.”

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

The 39-year-old will be assisted by David McGeachie and Alastair Mather for the final game before the winter shutdown.

Rangers are currently third in the Scottish Premiership and could leapfrog Aberdeen in second-place with a win over Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is the only Rangers boss to have managed to avoid defeat against Celtic since the Gers returned to the Scottish Premiership last season after four years in the lower divisions.

Under Murty, the Gers came away with a draw at Celtic Park while Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha both failed to lay a glove on their bitter rivals.

In other Rangers news, three Gers players could play their final games for the club against Celtic this week.
