‘Oh my God’ – Expert shares ‘incredible’ Chelsea verdict after source’s Karim Benzema reveal
Karim Benzema would have been an “incredible” addition to Chelsea this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham United and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie claimed the 36-year-old would still be prolific in the Premier League as he can “score from anywhere”.
As revealed by Football Insider (30 January), the Frenchman is expected to stay in the Saudi Pro League and seek a move away from Al Ittihad despite reports linking him to the Blues.
He has been very prolific in the Middle East since his move from Real Madrid in the summer having scored 12 goals and provided five assists in all competitions
McAvennie was adamant that Benzema would have had a huge impact on Chelsea’s season if he made the move and claimed he would have notched double figures in England.
“Benzema would score anywhere,” he told Football Insider.
“He was one of the top strikers in the world, but maybe not now.
“But he has been. It might have taken him a bit of time to get up to scratch, but someone like him will always score goals.
“If he did go to Chelsea, oh my God, it would be incredible.
“He would have scored double figures between now and the end of the season, that’s for sure.

“He’s a proper number nine, he’s not one of these false nines or something else you might make up!
“If he did move to the Premier League, it would be tremendous.”
