‘Oh, my word’ – Clinton Morrison astonished by what Morgan Gibbs-White did vs Chelsea

Morgan Gibbs-White caused disbelief during Ange Postecoglou’s final game in charge as Nottingham Forest boss.

Forest supporters are already calling for Postecoglou to be sacked, having been embarrassed by Midtjylland in the Europa League before the international break.

Football Insider understood that Postecoglou could be sacked should the Reds lose their next handful of matches, and Evangelos Marinakis has now made the decision to part ways with the manager.

The pressure got to an all-time high after the defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday, 18 October, but it could have been very different had the home side taken their chances in the first half.

Morgan Gibbs-White squanders two early chances vs Chelsea

Gibbs-White had the Reds’ best chances to open the scoring against the Blues, and Clinton Morrison could not believe his eyes as the playmaker wasted two first-half chances.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News (18 October, 12:51pm), Morrison said: “Oh, my word. Douglas Luiz does well to knock it back across, and Morgan Gibbs-White just stretches. It’s a good opportunity, but the header across is too much.

“The one before from Gibbs-White, he should score. Chelsea are over-playing, Lavia loses the ball. Awoniyi slides the ball across to Gibbs-White on the edge of the box.

“He’s got the whole goal [to aim at] and he tries to bend it into the top corner, but he bends it wide,” going on to suggest that Forest may regret their missed chances at the City Ground.

Who could replace Ange Postecoglou at the City Ground?

Fulham’s Marco Silva is being considered by Forest, as too are Brendan Rodgers, Sean Dyche, and Mauricio Pochettino, and fans would likely take any of them right now.

Postecoglou has won zero of his first eight games in charge, losing six of them, and only drawing against Burnley and Real Betis, the first of which was also embarrassing for the Reds.

Many fans were on the fence about sacking Nuno Espirito Santo to start with, but were they given the choice again, the difference in opinions might not be so obvious.

The decision has now been made to part ways with the manager, which is possibly longer than many wanted, and the search is now on for a new manager.
