O'Kane delivers bold verdict on Leeds' January transfer hopes

Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane says that the current squad have enough to compete for promotion this season regardless of the club’s spending in the January transfer window.
The Whites are currently sitting sixth in the Championship table, having drawn 0-0 with Nottingham Forest in their first game of 2018, a result which left them sitting just one point above seventh placed Sheffield United and a point behind Aston Villa in fifth.
Thomas Christiansen and his side rescued themselves from an abysmal run of form earlier in the campaign, which saw them slip from table toppers to as low as ninth, but they have now suffered just one defeat in their last eight games, a run which has included five wins.
When asked about the hopes of the current squad for the current transfer window, 27-year-old O’Kane boldly stated that the current squad had more than enough to be fighting for a top six spot this season, although admitted any new arrivals would be a boost to their hopes.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “We have got a very good squad here and we have the tools to be successful in this league and to move higher up than that sixth position.
“Everyone has good and bad days and people will fire some days and other days have an off day.
“If someone comes in then we will welcome them and hopefully they can kick us on.
“If they don’t and the club for whatever reason don’t add people then we have a good squad, we have good players and we are confident in what we are.”
O’Kane, a Republic of Ireland international, has been a regular under manager Christiansen this season, with 22 appearances under his belt this season, 18 of which have come among the starting XI.
