O’Kane delivers verdict after Leeds victory over Blackburn
By Dominic Toner
Leeds midfielder Eunan O’Kane believes his side tasted victory against Blackburn without playing their best.
The Whites earned a narrow 2-1 away victory against Blackburn and strengthened their position inside the play-off positions.
Stuart Dallas put the visitors in front in the 74th minute with a strike into the corner, but Elliot Bennett equalised quickly after.
Leeds’ fan favourite Pontus Jansson popped up with the winner in the 89th minute as the centre-back headed in a corner.
O’Kane played 78 minutes in the midfield and admitted after the match that the team won without reaching their top levels.
“Great character shown by the group today. We keep finding a way to win, even when the performance isn’t at its best. Keep chasing,” O’Kane wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Leeds will be delighted to have responded to a shock exit to non-league Sutton in the FA Cup on Sunday as their league form continued.
The Yorkshire giants have won four of their last five Championship games and are one of the favourites to finish inside the play-off positions.
Garry Monk’s side will still be hoping they can finish inside an automatic spot, but need to bridge a five-point gap to second-placed Newcastle.
Leeds will now turn their attention to a Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield on Sunday in a crucial league match.
