Oliver Abildgaard set for extended spell out of Celtic XI – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed it will be “very difficult” for Oliver Abildgaard to force his way into the Celtic starting XI.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said it looks as though Ange Postecoglou’s team is complete after the latest signing.
The 26-year old was included in the Hoops’ Champions League squad but was left out of the team for the opening game against Real Madrid on Tuesday (6 September).
On 1 September, Celtic confirmed the signing of the Danish midfielder on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan.
The former Denmark international became Postecoglou’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
Abildgaard is yet to make his debut for the Glasgow club and Hutton insisted it could be a while before he gets a chance in the first team.
“It definitely looks like they’re complete,” he told Football Insider.
“They’re so strong, even the midfield, [Callum] McGregor, [Matt] O’Riley, [Reo] Hatate who covers every blade of grass. It’s going to be difficult to break into that team and that’s what you want as a manager, strong in every position.

“And they’re really buying in to the way that he [Postecoglou] wants to play football and you can see that on the pitch. They’re not just scoring goals, they’re working hard for each other.
“I think the signings they’ve brought in have been really good but at this moment in time they’re playing at such a high level it will be very difficult to break into the team.“
