Oliver Glasner could quit Crystal Palace after public outburst – ‘Why would he want to stay?’
Oliver Glasner could be tempted to walk away from Crystal Palace at the end of the season after his public outburst towards the club’s board.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Glasner is visibly frustrated with decisions made behind the scenes.
Crystal Palace lost 2-1 to Man United on Sunday, despite leading 1-0 at half-time, and the impact of their European fixture schedule is now becoming clear.
Football Insider revealed in August that Glasner was left frustrated at Crystal Palace as a result of their slow start to the summer transfer window.
Those grievances have now been aired out yet again by the Austrian, who insisted the club’s decision to save rather than spend has let him and his players down.
Oliver Glasner could quit Crystal Palace
Brown told Football Insider in October that Glasner is unlikely to stay at Crystal Palace as the club have not yet shown they can match his ambitions.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working alongside elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted that Palace only have themselves to blame if the boss walks away.
“Oliver Glasner isn’t happy, that’s becoming clear,” he told Football Insider.
“I think them qualifying for Europe has exposed some weaknesses, as we discussed previously we thought it might, because you need depth in your squad.
“Palace have looked at it and thought they could make-do with what they had, and it’s now proving not to be the case because the players look knackered.
“So I wasn’t surprised to hear Glasner saying the things he said after the Man United game.
“He’s directly criticising the owners and directors in public, and that’s never a good sign, so as things stand I think he’s going to walk away.
“I can see where he’s coming from, he’s clearly unhappy with the way things have gone and he doesn’t feel that the club are doing what they should be going to progress.

“His contract is up at the end of the year, and they haven’t shown they’re willing to match his ambitions and invest in the squad, so why would he want to stay?
“It’s a massive shame for Palace and for the fans, because this period has been a fantastic time for them, but it’s the club’s own fault if they’re not willing to back him.”
Crystal Palace want to agree new contract with Glasner
Football Insider revealed in September that Palace will do everything in their power to keep Glasner at Selhurst Park despite reports of tension behind the scenes.
Palace chairman Steve Parish confirmed that early stages of contract talks have taken place, but explained their visions need to be aligned to reach an agreement. [talkSPORT]
However, Football Insider revealed on 30 September that Crystal Palace must match Glasner’s ambitions if they want him to agree a new contract.

Glasner has previously spoken out confessing he would like to add more players to his squad in January to enable further rotation and allow him to rest key players.
Following Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg and then to Man United, the boss doubled down on his calls for the club to invest with attacking players high on his radar.
