Ollie Watkins flops- Aston Villa’s three losers vs Bournemouth

Unai Emery may not have been impressed by a few of his star players despite Aston Villa’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth.

Aston Villa lost 2-0 against Liverpool last time out in the Premier League and bounced back with three points to move up to seventh in the table.

Emi Buendia and Amadou Onana struck twice in the first half though to return the Villans to winning ways, aided by second half Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen goals.

Below are the three Aston Villa losers from their 4-0 win over Bournemouth.

Watkins was denied by a superb reaction save by Djordje Petrovic during the first half, and did not have many further opportunities to find the net.

Aston Villa want to sign a new striker in January, amid Watkins’ poor form, though the 29-year-old continues to work tirelessly for the team.

Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers was yellow carded for a late foul on Evanilson in the first half, with the midfielder perhaps fortunate referee John Brooks was not advised to look at the challenge again via VAR.

Rogers, whose the subject of contract talks at Aston Villa, had little influence on this contest as 23-year-old was outshone by the likes of Buendia.

The midfielder then conceded a penalty for handball, which thankfully for Rogers was saved by the outstretched hand of Emi Martinez.

Lucas Digne

The left-back was up against Bournemouth’s star player Antoine Semenyo, and whilst the Cherries winger had a quiet match, Lucas Digne still struggled in the game.

Digne lost four of his ground duels, two of his aerial duels and completed just two successful crosses.

Ian Maatsen’s fine display against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League during midweek must give Emery a dilemma after the international break.
