One behind-the-scenes Arsenal man has just agreed brilliant player deal – ‘he’s getting things done’

Arsenal are the Premier League leaders as it stands and someone behind the scenes deserves praise for helping the positive momentum around the club.

Mikel Arteta’s side have taken advantage of Liverpool’s poor form in recent weeks to jump above them in the table.

On Saturday, Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 win over West Ham United, which puts them a point clear at the top of the Premier League.

However, the Gunners are also receiving positive news off the pitch, which is helping the overall feeling around the North London side.

Arsenal director praised for contract dealings

Last week, Arsenal tied centre-back William Saliba down to a new contract, putting to bed any rumours of a move to Real Madrid.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Saliba news is the latest boost to momentum at the Emirates.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Josh Kroenke and his team are getting things done correctly behind the scenes and deserve a lot of praise.

Kroenke Jnr has been given more power, following a shake-up with the Gunners hierarchy.

Wyness added that it is all positive news around the Arsenal squad at the moment, after a number of contract extensions and the good recent results.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The Saliba news is a good boost, you’re seeing contract renewals handled quickly and positively.

“It’s all good around the Arsenal squad right now, and I say that’s just positive news. I think that spreads as much through the squad as anything else. Rather than having one player whose mind is distracted by contract negotiations, they’ve got it done.

“That’s a few players now they’ve managed to get over the line. So all good, and I think it speaks volumes about the way not only Mikel’s handling things, but also I think Josh Kroenke and the team above are getting things done and getting it done correctly.

“They’re keeping that momentum going with Arsenal. So I think it only strengthens them right now, and mentality-wise and fan-wise, everybody should be pretty happy with the way things are going.”

The Gunners have now gone over 20 years since winning the league, but this season is their best chance yet of breaking that duck.

Arsenal have been built on a strong defence under Arteta over the past few campaigns, and this term is no different, with four clean sheets in seven Premier League games so far.

What has changed is the attacking output, following major signings like Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze during the summer.

Along with Manchester City, Arsenal have scored the most goals in the top-flight, and combined with their strong backline, the Gunners have the perfect recipe for success.
