‘One of my good sources tells me’ – Leeds in ‘advanced situation’ to sign Axel Disasi
Leeds’ first January signing could be confirmed soon with Chelsea defender Axel Disasi set to move to Elland Road.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid Leeds’ pursuit of Disasi.
Disasi has been frozen out at Chelsea, and has only appeared for the Blues’ under-21 team this season.
The 27-year-old joined Aston Villa on loan in the January window last year, and the Frenchman is again in need of regular playing time.
Axel Disasi move expected to happen
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has been impressed with what he has heard about Disasi.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that a deal for Disasi to move to Elland Road is an “advanced situation.”
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “One of my good sources told me that it’s an advanced situation, and I would expect that one to happen.
“And I think that is a good one for Chelsea, and also for Leeds. I think Daniel Farke’s got the squad firing again, there’s confidence flowing through the squad, and I think he’s a good quality addition that would come in.
“All I hear about him as well is that he’s a good squad player in terms of his attitude to the whole thing. So he won’t unsettle people, and won’t unsettle the feeling in the squad. I think it’d only add to it, he’s a good pro.
“So I think it’d be a good move for both sides if they can get that across the line. And Leeds know strengthening that defence in the second part of the season is the crucial thing. If you’re going to be in that dogfight, which they’re getting away from slightly, but if they’re going to be in it, you’ve got to be tight at the back. And if Dominic’s [Calvert-Lewin] firing up front, then Leeds have every chance of staying up.”

Leeds could accelerate Disasi move after Joe Rodon news
Leeds may want extra defensive cover amid Joe Rodon’s injury blow suffered in the draw at Sunderland.
Rodon could miss Leeds’ next four fixtures, with three coming in the Premier League before their FA Cup campaign begins at Derby County.
The 28-year-old has started all of Leeds’ Premier League fixtures this season, with the centre-back also contributing two goals.
