Aston Villa outcast Richards could be looking for a way out of the Midlands giants, after Steve Bruce completed a major coup by bringing former Chelsea captain John Terry to Villa Park.
It has seen the former England international plummet down the pecking order behind the likes of James Chester, Tommy Elphick and Nathan Baker as well as Terry.
His talent undoubted, 29-year-old Richards needs to move in order to save his career and Leeds could hand him a career lifeline by starring in their promotion hunt.
