Orkun Kokcu ‘interested’ in reuniting with Arne Slot at Liverpool
Benfica star Orkun Kokcu is “interested” in reuniting with Arne Slot at Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Reds are in the market for a new midfielder.
The 23-year-old played under Slot for two years at Feyenoord, therefore there is an existing relationship between the two men.
Slot wants to strengthen his midfield options in the upcoming transfer market, and Kocku has done well under him in the past.
The Turkey international is on a big contract at Benfica until 2028 which means the Portuguese club would be in a strong negotiating position if Liverpool did make a bid.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that it would take a “big fee” to sign Kocku away from Benfica at the moment as the club isn’t interested in selling him.
However, if the opportunity did arise Kocku himself would be interested in taking it and reuniting with Slot at Anfield.
Orkun Kokcu could fix Arne Slot’s midfield dilemma
Slot has been searching for a number six since he replaced Jurgen Klopp last summer, and they almost had one with Martin Zubimendi.
The Real Sociedad midfielder was a top target for Liverpool during the previous transfer window but ended up rejecting their approach.

The Premier League giants are not willing to sign a player just for the sake of it though, and they will only bring someone in who is seen as the right fit.
Ryan Gravenberch has stepped up and thrived in that role this season, but Slot still wants to provide more depth in that area.
