Pablo Hernandez delivers Leeds verdict on Reading defeat
By Dominic Toner
Leeds ace Pablo Hernandez admitted his side did not play well in the first-half of their 1-0 defeat to Reading on Saturday.
The Whites suffered a 1-0 loss against their play-off rivals and it ended their seven-game unbeaten run.
They conceded to a Yann Kermorgant goal in the 21st minute as the striker profited from a failed clearance from Charlie Taylor.
Garry Monk’s side were unable to recapture the form that has helped them into the promotion picture and the result means they dropped down to fifth in the table, while Reading leapfrogged them into fourth.
The Yorkshire giants still have a six-point gap over seventh-placed Sheffield Wednesday and look set to be in the play-offs at the end of the season.
Hernandez revealed his frustration after the game and feels the opening 45 minutes cost them.
“Disappointing. We want to win the game but it’s not possible,” Hernandez said, as quoted by LUTV. “I think first-half (we) did not play good, some mistakes, and these mistakes cost us the goal.”
Leeds will now hope to regroup and deliver a better performance on Tuesday night when they travel to Brentford in the league.
Hernandez was unable to seriously influence the Reading game or pull the string as he so often does.
The 31-year-old has made 30 appearances so far this season across all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying eight assists.
The attacking midfielder will hope to prove the difference against Brentford as he looks to return Premier League football to Elland Road.
In other Leeds news, a BBC pundit has claimed this player has become a problem for Monk.
