Patrick Bamford: Leeds pundit issues ‘massive’ verdict after medical expert update

Patrick Bamford’s injury worries will be a “massive concern” for Leeds United, according to Danny Mills.

The former Whites defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the unknown behind the problem affecting the 28-year-old is “the biggest problem you could possibly have with an injury”.

Speaking to the BBC after Leeds’ 3-3 draw against Aston Villa (9 February), Marcelo Bielsa revealed Bamford is yet to begin his recovery and added that it is “impossible to imagine when that’s going to happen”.

The England international had been sidelined with hamstring and ankle problems but is now suffering from an unspecified foot issue.

According to Football Insider medical expert Ben Dinnery (11 February), Bamford may be suffering from plantar fasciitis – a stubborn inflammation of the foot.

When asked if he was concerned about Bamford’s injury problems, Mills told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “Oh, definitely.

“It appears now that they’re not quite sure what’s wrong with him. And if you don’t know what’s wrong, you can’t fix it.

“I’d say that’s the biggest problem you could possibly have with an injury – that’s when it becomes a massive concern.”

Bamford has featured only once for Leeds United since sustaining his first injury problem in September 2021.

The striker is one of a number of Whites stars who have struggled for fitness this season.

Star midfielder Kalvin Phillips and club captain Liam Cooper are still sidelined after suffering long-term injuries in December 2021.
