Patrick Bamford: Pundit ‘fears the worst’ for Leeds United striker after Sky footage assessed

Alan Hutton has admitted he “fears the worst” for Patrick Bamford after another injury setback at Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa defender was seriously concerned by the 28-year-old’s immediate “reaction” after suffering an issue against Wolves.

As captured by Sky Sports’ cameras on Friday (18 March), Bamford was visibly upset after limping off after just 23 minutes in the Whites’ 3-2 win.

As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Jesse Marsch is hopeful the striker’s latest setback is not “too bad”.

Bamford has been absent with a plantar fascia problem and Marsch it has been “sensitive” in his recovery process.

However, Hutton suggested Bamford’s reaction may point towards a more serious issue.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I really felt for Bamford, you saw him on the bench.

“Obviously, he looked like he was in tears and in a bit of distress after everything that he has gone through. You do really feel for him.

“You do fear the worst. It didn’t look great and I always think you can tell by the reaction. The player normally knows, they’ve got a feeling what’s going on.

“It’s a foot injury and I remember when I was at Tottenham, I had a meticular fracture. I was out for four months, then I came back and it went again. I instantly knew that had happened.

“Then I had to go for an operation and I was out for five months. As a player, you know your body. You know what’s going on.

“Hopefully it’s not the same as before. It’s maybe just a little niggle. When you see his face and how upset he is, he must feel something.”
