Paul Pogba: Man United superstar could ‘ruin’ Aston Villa after ‘surprise’ transfer report – Whelan
Steven Gerrard would “ruin” the dressing room harmony at Aston Villa by signing Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, blasted the 29-year-old as a “bog-standard” player and a bad influence off the pitch.
As reported by the Sun (24 March), Villa and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Pogba’s situation alongside Juventus, PSG and Real Madrid.

The midfielder is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer.
Whelan admitted he was surprised Gerrard would consider a move for the France international.
He slammed Pogba’s work ethic and suggested he would be a bad egg at Aston Villa.
“I’m surprised with Steven Gerrard being linked with him,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Gerrard was a hard-working, box to box player. The success that he’s had, he knows what it takes.
“During the seasons Pogba’s been at Manchester United, he’s not hit the heights of expectation. He’s been bog-standard at times. Problems inside the dressing room, on the training ground, away from the training ground.
“To me, Gerrard’s growing a really good squad there. I think that would ruin the balance, if you’re asking me, for Steven Gerrard.
“Aston Villa, they’ve got young players that are coming through there. I’m not sure whether he’s the right character that you need in there for them to feed off.”

Pogba has only played 23 times across all competitions for Manchester United this season.
A hamstring injury kept him sidelined between October and February.
