Penrice told he is 'going to lose his job' at Celtic by Scots pundit
Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic head of recruitment Gary Penrice deserves to lose his job after making “mistake after mistake” this season.
The former Rangers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ripped into the Bhoys’ recent transfer history and suggested they needed a “full shakeup” of the recruitment team.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier this week, Penrice, 56, is in line to follow Peter Lawwell and Nicky Hammond out of the exit door.
This site broke the news in January Hammond’s role as director of football is under “major threat”.
Meanwhile, as first detailed by Football Insider at the start of the year, Lawwell will step down at the end of the season.
Hutton has insisted there is no hiding for Penrice after watching the majority of summer signings struggle at Parkhead.

Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “They need to act, it’s as simple as that. It’s not been good enough. It’s like any work you do, if you’re making mistake after mistake, you’re going to lose your job.
“You saw it happen at Aston Villa with Suso (Jesus Garcia Pitarch). He brought in so many players and it didn’t work out. He moved on and look at them now.
“I think if you go through the Celtic squad and what they brought in, yes they had some players that worked out but more often than not, it didn’t. They spent big money.
“It doesn’t surprise me they’re having a full shakeup, revamping everything.”
Shane Duffy, Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti have all been branded big-money flops following their moves to Celtic.
David Turnbull has been the standout signing of the summer with seven goals and six assists to his name.
