Pep Clotet praises Leeds players for working on this in training after Brentford win

Pep Clotet has praised the Leeds players for working on set-pieces, both offensively and defensively during training following their 1-0 win over Brentford.

Garry Monk’s side scored from a corner, when Stuart Dallas’ cross in the 89th minute was headed in by Kyle Bartley in front of a jubilant Elland Road crowd on Saturday afternoon.

Additionally, the promotion chasers also recorded a clean sheet, their third on the bounce on home soil.

The three points mean Monk’s side remain in a play-off spot after 22 games, following their 12th win of the Championship campaign.

After the victory against Dean Smith’s side, assistant manager Clotet posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.

On-loan centre-back duo Bartley and Pontus Jansson have been crucial to their defensive success this season.

They have helped the Yorkshire club keep eight clean sheets this term as they sit in fifth place on 38 points from 22 games.

In attack, striker Chris Wood, who missed the Bees win through injury, has been one of their star performers.

The New Zealand international has netted an impressive 11 goals in 21 Championship games as Monk’s side aim for promotion to the top-flight for the first time in 12 years.

The Yorkshire club will now have two difficult trips over the festive period. First of all they travel to Preston North End on Boxing day, before three days later making a trip to the Midlands to take on Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa.
