Pep Clotet sends Twitter message after Leeds triumph over Sheffield Wednesday

By Amir Mir

Pep Clotet has expressed his delight at Leeds after they beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Garry Monk’s assistant highlighted the club’s “attitude” as Chris Wood’s only goal of the game was enough for them to secure all three points.

After a quiet opening without many chances, the Whites, in particular, Wood, were gifted a chance when a poor error of judgement from the Wednesday defence allowed Wood to score.

That goal lifted the home team as Carlos Carvahal’s side struggled to get into the game until being awarded with a penalty in the second half.

Jordan Rhodes duly stepped up as the on-loan Middlesbrough striker saw his shot saved by the experienced Rob Green.

After the win, Clotet had this message for supporters as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Proud of the group,” said Clotet. “Great attitude as a packed Elland Road was once again at its best.”

Spaniard Clotet has formed an integral partnership with Monk as the duo have turned the Yorkshire club into possible promotional contenders.

After a poor start to the campaign, Leeds’ 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday in August their first under Monk, helped kick-start their promotion run.

At this moment in time, they are fourth in the Championship table on 61 points from their 34 matches. More importantly, they have opened an eight-point gap on the play-off chasers.
