Pep Guardiola could make explosive Man City exit in hours as odds slashed amid stunning twist

Pep Guardiola could be set to leave Man City in the coming hours after the odds on his departure shortened massively.

Richard Keys claimed on Saturday that Guardiola could leave Man City this weekend, following his side’s defeat in the Manchester derby.

The Citizens were soundly beaten 2-0, courtesy of second-half goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu.

In December, it emerged that Man City have been lining up a potential move for Enzo Maresca, should Guardiola depart in the summer.

At the start of January, however, Chelsea and Maresca parted ways, meaning the Italian is now free to make the switch should the position become available.

Odds slashed on Pep Guardiola’s future

The Premier League appears to have gone sacking crazy in recent weeks. Maresca went, and he was quickly followed by Ruben Amorim.

West Ham are also considering the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, although the Hammers’ victory over Tottenham on Saturday may put a change to that idea.

On the other end of that result, however, Thomas Frank is under massive pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and could be hours away from the axe.

The same can be said of Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace, who, despite already being set to leave in the summer, looked to speed up the process on Saturday.

The Eagles failed to win for the 10th consecutive game across all competitions when they lost to Sunderland, with the Austrian claiming that he has been “abandoned completely”.

Palace have sanctioned the sale of Marc Guehi to Man City in recent days, and now look set for an incredibly tough second half of the season.

But following Saturday’s bombshell claim, the odds on Guardiola being the next Premier League manager to depart have been slashed to 2/1 by one major bookmaker.

What are the odds on other Premier League managers’ futures?

Glasner and Frank lead the bookies’ race for the sack, understandably. The Palace manager now leads the way at 8/15 odds, with decision-makers seriously considering a final decision.

Frank is also facing discussions surrounding his future, and the Dane’s odds of being the next for the boot are at evens.

Arne Slot appears to have staved off most of the talk surrounding his future after dragging his team to a 12th consecutive game unbeaten on Saturday.

But with the 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield marking a fourth consecutive Premier League game in which the scores ended level, the pressure is starting to increase once again. Slot stands at 54/5 odds of facing the sack next.
