‘Pep Guardiola is not happy at Man City’ amid ‘angry dressing room outburst’

Pep Guardiola is growing increasingly annoyed at the situation at Man City as they struggle to turn around a disastrous season so far.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss is finding it hard to raise morale in the dressing room.

He went on to explain that the manager’s frustrations have become clear for all to see, and will be having a negative affect on his players behind the scenes.

City were knocked out in the Champions League playoff stages by Real Madrid, and are sitting fourth in the Premier League following a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out.

Having picked up 44 points from 26 league games so far, they remain just five points ahead of tenth-placed Fulham and have been well-below par.

Guardiola’s lofty demands and expectations are not being met, while his City side are struggling to string results and performances together, leading to a sense of unease around the club.

Pep Guardiola frustrated at Man City after press conference outburst

The boss committed to a new two-year contract at the Etihad earlier this season, but there has been speculation that Guardiola could leave Man City this summer.

Brown, who worked closely with elite managers including the likes of Ron Atkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, has insisted that the manager’s frustrations are adding to his team’s ongoing issues this season.

Pep Guardiola is not happy with how things are going at City,” he told Football Insider.

“Did you see his press conference after they lost to Liverpool at the weekend?

“It’s becoming clear for all to see how frustrated he is, he’s getting snappy with reporters, giving them blunt answers and sometimes he’s not really even making sense.

“If that’s how he’s responding in public, I can only imaging what it’s like in the dressing room.

“And, okay, having a go at the players sometimes is what you need if they’re not performing, but you can’t afford to let that anger start dictating things.

“That has the opposite affect and doesn’t do anybody any good because morale will be on the floor.

“Not that it necessarily will, Guardiola is obviously a fantastic manager, but he’s never had a run like this in his career before so you don’t know how he deals with it.

“What is clear, though, is that he isn’t happy and he’s struggling to turn things around from where they are.”

Kevin de Bruyne future at the Etihad remains uncertain

While Man City have struggled on the pitch, there have been a number of concerns raised about their key players and the levels of their performances.

Brown told Football Insider on 18 February that Guardiola will look to replace five Man City stars in a big-money summer spending spree.

One of those is Kevin de Bruyne, who could leave Man City to join MLS side San Diego FC amid concerns about his physical decline since returning from injuries.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave the club for free, when he will be able to explore his options.
