Pep Guardiola subject to ‘investigation’ after Man City post-match bust-up, cameraman could also be in trouble

Pep Guardiola will be speaking to the authorities over an incident which happened after Man City’s Premier League clash at Newcastle.

That is according to former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, who exclusively told Football Insider that the authorities will speak to Guardiola after he appeared to grab and confront a cameraman at St James’ Park.

Man City lost 2-1 at Newcastle, with a Harvey Barnes brace securing victory for the Toon despite Ruben Dias’ equaliser.

It was an opportunity missed for Man City to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal, as Guardiola appeared to let his emotions slip at the full-time whistle.

Guardiola to be quizzed on post-match scenes

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the incident, the former referee said: “I am sure the authorities will be asking the Manchester City manager for his observations.

When pushed on whether Guardiola could face punishment, Hackett commented: “The investigation will determine what sparked the confrontation.

Was the cameraman over indulgent, preventing the manager from doing his job. The position of the cameraman will also be looked at.”

Man City unhappy at Phil Foden incident

Man City also felt they should have a penalty at Newcastle after Fabian Schar made contact with Phil Foden in the area.

Wayne Rooney believed it was a “clear” Man City penalty, in a moment which could have changed the complexion of the game.

Donnarumma was also unhappy at Newcastle‘s winning goal, with the Italian complaining to the referee that he was fouled before Barnes struck from close-range.
