Pep Guardiola to quit Man City and then 115 charges case to proceed – pundit

Man City won’t learn the outcome of their 115 financial charges until after Pep Guardiola leaves the club, possibly at the end of next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Frank McAvennie insisted that City’s lawyers will continue to push the threat back and wouldn’t be surprised if they win another title before the charges are delivered to them.

Football Insider previously reported that the hearing is likely to be held in October after months of delays, but City’s lawyers continue to push the issue down the line.

The Premier League handed Man City 115 charges for allegedly breaching the FFP rules over a nine-year period.

McAvennie also claimed that clubs around City will just have to get on with it and try not to let the looming charges affect their mentality.

Guardiola has just one year on his current deal at the Etihad and has suggested he could walk away at the end of next season.

If the issue continues to be pushed back as it has been so far, with the charges initially levelled in February 2023, City’s reign of dominance can be expected to continue.

As McAvennie insisted, the whole ordeal is unfair on the smaller clubs who could not afford to do as City have done if they were charged – as seen by Nottingham Forest and Everton facing punishments this season.

It’s all different, stupid things just mounting up. That’s the 115 charges,” he told Football Insider.

Pep has got one year left on his contract and these charges won’t get dropped until he leaves, that’s for sure.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they won another league and then it’ll be in court.

The lawyers will just keep burying it, burying it, burying it until the laws change. It’s unfortunate for the wee clubs that couldn’t do that, but Man City can.

There’s no point moaning about it, you’ve just got to get on with it and not let it get to you.”
