Peter Lovenkrands reacts to nostalgic Newcastle Twitter post

Peter Lovenkrands reacted to Newcastle’s Twitter post on Tuesday afternoon showing the former striker bagging a fine strike for the club in 2010.

The north east giants ran it’s popular ‘goal of the day’ feature on the official Twitter account with the Dane’s fine strike on 18 January 2010 the one showcased.

The now 37-year-old scored the fourth and final goal of the game to earn his side a 2-2 draw at St James’ Park with Danny Guthrie, Jonas Olsson and Roman Bednar also getting on the score sheet.

Lovenkrands, who left Newcastle in 2012 after three years at the club reacted to the post on his personal Twitter account hailing the night alongside several hearts emojis.

“Amazing night” wrote the former striker as well as a ‘Toon Army’ hashtag.

Lovenkrands announced his retirement in November 2014, finishing his career with fellow English side Birmingham in the Championship.

He was largely part of an unsuccessful Newcastle team, but he did stay with them for the 2009-10 campaign and helped them return  to the top flight at the first time of asking with 16 goals and three assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

He finished his career with the Magpies with 29 goals and 11 assists in 85 appearances and he is still well remembered in the north east.
