‘Phenomenal’ – Fulham player stuns fans with his display against Man City

Fulham and Nigeria supporters were stunned by Samuel Chukwueze’s impactful performance in their 5-4 defeat to Man City on 2 December.

Marco Silva would’ve been proud of his side after a hard fought comeback against Pep Guardiola‘s team, which saw Erling Haaland score his 100th goal for Man City.

Despite protests at Craven Cottage in a dramatic affair, former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider that the correct decision was made not to award Fulham with a penalty against Man City.

Whilst the spot-kick could’ve given the Cottagers a vital point, fans from both the club and Nigeria were wowed by the effective substitution of Chukwueze who nearly inspired his side to victory.

Chukwueze joined Fulham on loan over the summer and has been gradually settling into life in west London.

Yet, in recent matches, the Nigeria international has delivered some outstanding displays that have caught the eye of Silva and Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle.

The 26-year-old came off the bench against the Cityzens at half-time and caused the backline nightmares with his superb dribbling, successfully completing two out of two.

His shot map, courtesy of Football Insider’s data partnership with Opta, highlighted his major goal threat for the Cottagers as he scored two goals with four of his shots in just 45 minutes.

On top of this, Chukwueze delivered one key pass as he remained determined to inspire the Fulham attack to topple the Cityzens.

Despite just missing out on a shock comeback against Guardiola’s side, both supporters of the club and of the Super Eagles were praising the winger’s performance.

In particular, with Nigeria off to fight for Africa’s greatest prize in a matter of weeks, fans were raving about Chukwueze ahead of the highly-coveted continental tournament.

One Nigeria supporter said ahead of AFCON: “Chukwueze is turning the Premier League to his personal playground.” with another adding: “Give credit where credit is due. Chukwueze was phenomenal yesterday.”
