‘Phenomenal’ – John Hartson delivers verdict on unprecedented Celtic triumph
Former Celtic striker John Hartson has saluted the current Hoops side after the clinched the domestic treble for the second season in a row, with a 2-0 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Cup Final.
“Congratulations Celtic FC, double treble winners, phenomenal achievement” Hartson said, as quoted on his personal Twitter account.
The Hoops were never in any danger at Hampden of losing the game, as they eased in a two goal lead thanks to goals from Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham.
The Hoops have now won six trophies out of six since Brendan Rodgers took over in the East End of Glasgow, an unprecedented feat in Scottish football history.
Football Insider verdict
The Hoops’ achievements really are incredible, as it takes remarkable consistency to win so many domestic trophies in such a short space of time, and in time this will go down as one of the greatest feats in the Hoops’ history. Perhaps now it won’t be appreciated as much as it will be in the future, particularly from non-Hoops fans, but the Bhoys deserve every bit of credit that they are currently receiving from former players. The big test is what happens next for the Bhoys, as they have conquered Scotland two years running, and will want to make an impression in Europe, as they made small steps in reaching the last 32 of the Europa League this season, if they want to make more strides in Europe next season they will have to spend big, but for now it is time to reflect on an incredible achievement from this particular group of players.
