Phillips: Official Tottenham news is 'huge indicator' of next stage in Kane transfer saga
Kevin Phillips insists Harry Kane will leave Tottenham this summer despite senior figures at the club reportedly thinking the opposite.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on Kane’s future.
According to The Athletic (July 24th), senior figures at Spurs are confident Kane will still be at the club when the transfer window shuts.
On 29th April, this site revealed Kane has told friends he is “hell bent” on leaving Spurs this summer.
The England captain has let it be known he wants to leave the club but the only bid for his services came from Man City last month.
However, Tottenham announced last week (23 July) that Heung-Min Son has signed a new four-year deal with the club.

Phillips claims this is an indication Kane could stay, even though he insists the striker will go.
“It’s so tough all of this,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“With transfers like this you can make yourself look stupid, can’t you?
“Personally, I still think he’ll leave. I think it will go right to the wire but it will happen.
“The player still wants to go, he can’t see them challenging. They might win the Carabao Cup or something but the Premier League? No way.
“At this stage of his career, that’s what’s important, the Premier League.
“He doesn’t want to be there, there are rumours he might not turn up for training but he’s too professional for that.
“As the days go on and we get closer to the end of the window we’ll see movement.
“But it wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed. Now Son has signed his new deal.
“He’s been convinced, can Kane be convinced? That’s a huge indicator for me.
“Nuno will have to try and pull the same trick twice.”
