Phillips tells Tottenham to complete ‘really exciting’ Traore signing after source update

Kevin Phillips insists Tottenham fans should be excited about the potential arrival of Adama Traore from Wolves.

The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest Spurs transfer updates.

Football Insider has been told by a Tottenham source that Wolves have rejected a loan-to-buy bid for Traore.

On 23 August, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed the winger is a “priority” for Tottenham in the final days of the window.

This comes after Harry Kane revealed he will be staying with the club this summer.

Phillips insists Traore can be “unplayable” on his day and claims he could be prolific when playing with Kane.

“I don’t think he will be a regular starter for them,” Phillips told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“He would play a lot of football but I don’t think he would play week in week out.

“Unless he came in and he performed like he did two years ago when he was on it every game.

“It makes sense that Nuno is going to go back for him, he is a player where no one can handle him on his day.

“With Kane staying as well, he can bomb down that wing and aim for him in the box, that could be a really exciting signing.

“If I was a Spurs supporter and he came to our club, irrelevant of how much you pay for him, he can be unplayable.”

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo worked with Traore at Wolves.

He made 37 appearances and scored two goals in the Premier League last season.
