Piero Hincapie surely in line for first Arsenal league start, his full international stats speak volumes
Mikel Arteta should hand Piero Hincapie his first Premier League start for Arsenal following the international break.
Hincapie joined Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen on loan in the summer transfer window, but has been limited to just five appearances for the Gunners so far.
The 23-year-old has struggled to break into the team due to Arsenal’s incredible defensive stats, which has seen them concede just five goals in 11 Premier League fixtures.
The international break though has once again reaffirmed Hincapie’s position as a strong defender who should be seeing more minutes.

Piero Hincapie stars for Ecuador
Hincapie captained Ecuador during their 0-0 draw against Canada, with the South American nation now having kept six clean sheets in their past eight fixtures.

Starting at left-back, Hincapie also made six tackles, three clearances and two recoveries during the contest.
At international level, Hincapie previously impressed against Argentina and is one of the first names on the team sheet.
Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori pick up injuries
Alongside, his impressive form for his country, Arteta may be concerned about injuries for Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori on international duty.
Calafiori could still start for Arsenal against Spurs next, but the Spaniard may not want to risk the Italian with the depth he has at his disposal.

Gabriel meanwhile has a potential groin injury picked up for Brazil against Senegal at Emirates Stadium.
As per Physio Scout on X, [15 November], Gabriel could face up to six weeks on the sidelines.
Such concerns should prompt Arteta to use the full depth of his squad, with Hincapie deserving of an opportunity amid his strong international form.
