Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Insider suprised as Tottenham star’s asking price revealed

Selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer is not a priority for Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on Monday (21 February) Roma are planning to make a summer move for Hojbjerg as long as Jose Mourinho is still their manager.

It is understood Tottenham value the Denmark international at around the £25million mark.

Wenham insists there are plenty of players who Spurs would look to sell before parting with Hojbjerg.

“Personally, I wouldn’t want Tottenham to sell Hojbjerg,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He was only £15million, he’s proven absolute value for money in terms of the number of games he’s played.

“Along with Bentancur and Skipp, they are three really good midfield options for us.

“Hojbjerg is an in-game leader and has been hailed as such by the managers he has played under.

“He gets on well with everyone inside the club, everyone loves him and I imagine he is on relatively low money after joining from Southampton.

“I mean, surely not. There are so many reasons to keep him and so many people who I would get rid of first.

“I don’t see the sale of Hojbjerg as a priority for Tottenham at all.”

Tottenham

Hojbjerg remarkably played every single minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign last term when Mourinho was in charge.

The Roma boss hailed the central midfielder in December 2020 as “a phenomenal player” who possesses a “genius” to his game, remarking “congratulations Mr Levy” for signing him from Southampton.

In other news, Tottenham well placed to sign “unbelievable” player available for cut-price deal.
