PL club ready to make offer for attacker eyed by Celtic – report

By Harvey Byrne

Newly promoted Premier League side Huddersfield are looking to offer Manchester City attacker Patrick Roberts a chance of joining on loan, according to a report.

The Daily Record has claimed that the Terriers are ready to make a offer for the 20-year-old with manager Pep Guardiola set to make a decision on the right-wingers future.

However, Celtic are also credited with interest and it is believed that the Hoops will be eyeing him after he spent the last 18 months on loan in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, French top-flight club Nice are said to also be looking at Roberts and it is detailed that they will compete with Huddersfield for his signature.

The Record report also states that Manchester City would prefer a sale of the young Englishman after having agreed a deal worth £12million with English Championship side Fulham to bring him in during the summer of 2015.

He has since been limited to just three senior appearances for the cash-rich Premier League side and Guardiola is looking to spend big money this summer as he builds a team ready to challenge for the top-flight title again.

Roberts starred in 60 matches for Celtic since joining in January 2016, scoring 17 goals while also providing 21 and he won two Premiership title, one League Cup and one Scottish Cup during his 18 months.

Football Insider verdict:

Roberts should be considered a must buy for Celtic this summer. The youngster was highly impressive in the Hoops team and he is only going to get better. He has the potential to also play in the Champions League and he could become a big part of the Glasgow giants’ future. However, Roberts himself may be keen to stay in the Premier League and prove himself in the English top-flight due to it’s higher reputation. Therefore, this deal may rely on where Roberts wants to play.
