PL club appear ready to part ways with 23-year-old amid interest from Liverpool – report

Arsenal appear ready to let Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain depart the Emirates Stadium amid interest from Liverpool, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have claimed in their transfer blog (Saturday 4.15pm) that the 23-year-old could move away from the north London club this summer as the Gunners face a battle to cut their wage bill.

This means that Liverpool could be ready to pounce with the Reds long being linked with the England international and the Mail report states that the Merseyside giants are still interested in acquiring his signature.

Additionally, Oxlade-Chamberlain has just one-year remaining on his contract with Arsenal and while the report claims the club have held talks with the right-winger, nothing has yet materialised.

Liverpool could be on the hunt for a new right sided attacker this summer to provide more backup to star Sadio Mane and they could be looking at Chamberlain, who played in 45 matches in all competitions last season, scoring six goals while also providing 11 as a potential addition.

Football Insider verdict:

Oxlade-Chamberlain was once regarded as a massive prospect while playing for Southampton on the wing, but for whichever reason his development has stagnated in north London. A change of scenery could be best thing for the 27-time capped England international’s career, while working with a top manager like Jurgen Klopp could also help him to rediscover his former potential. There is no doubt that Oxlade-Chamberlain can be a valuable player for a top Premier League team and this could work out to be a very smart purchase from the Reds.
