Potter and Everton are ‘perfect’ for each other as source reveals latest twist – pundit

Graham Potter is the “perfect candidate” to be the next Everton manager, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender also insisted it would the “perfect next step” in Potter‘s managerial career.

Football Insider reported on Monday (17 January) that Everton were sounding out the Brighton boss.

A source has updated yesterday (18 January) to tell Football Insider that Potter, 46, has told friends there is “no chance” of him quitting Brighton to take over at Goodison Park.

“I think it would be a really good move for both,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It’s a step up from Brighton but it’s not quite that leap where you would expect him to get into the top four.

“It would be a step up in terms of size of the club and expectations. David Weir is there at Brighton as well and he was talked about in terms of a role at Everton.

“I think he’s the perfect candidate. Has he taken Brighton as far as they can go? Without investment, where are Brighton going to finish? Are they going to be big spenders?

“They play a good style of football, he makes players better, he’s a good coach, we’ve seen that.

“Jobs like Arsenal and Tottenham are maybe a little bit of a leap but Everton would be the perfect next step up the ladder.

“He improves players and knows the Premier League. If you could go out and get him and his staff I think that would be a really good appointment.

“There might be ups and downs but it’s an appointment you can stick with for two or three years at least.”

In other news, there has been a significant update on Everton potentially appointing Wayne Rooney.
