Contact made: Mid-table club make approach for Celtic player – report
Premier League side Crystal Palace has contacted Celtic with an enquiry about the availability of striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report.
The Sun are suggesting that Roy Hodgson’s side have made an approach for the the player with the Scottish champions, but as yet no bid has been made.
The report goes on to suggest that although Brendan Rodgers may not want to sell the player in January, a big-money offer from mid-table Premier League side Palace could turn out to be too hard to resist.
Dembele has been subject of speculation since before the opening of the transfer window, but as yet no club has put a bid in.
The French under-21 international had a sensational first season with the Bhoys, scoring 32 goals.
This season due to injury and squad rotation, he hasn’t been as prolific but has still scored nine times.
Football Insider verdict
The rumours about Dembele continue to increase in number as the transfer window stays open, but once again there hasn’t been a concrete bid made for the player. Dembele and Celtic must be getting frustrated with the situation. With just over two weeks of the transfer window left to go, clubs need to put up or shut in following though on their reported interest in the player. That would give Brendan Rodgers’ side enough time to find a replacement for the 21-year-old. The longer without a bid placed for the player the more likely he is to stay with the Bhoys until the end of the season, until what looks to be his inevitable departure in the summer.
