‘PSG to fly in ultras for Club World Cup final clash vs Chelsea’

Chelsea supporters could be massively outnumbered when facing PSG in the Club World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium.

Enzo Maresca’s side have been on a great run to the final, losing only to Flamengo in their six games of the competition so far, but PSG’s run has far exceeded that of the Blues over the last few weeks.

Even taking on Atletico Madrid, Lionel Messi‘s Inter Miami, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid, Luis Enrique’s side have conceded just a single goal on their journey to the final in America, a surprise defeat to Botafogo.

Chelsea have been handed a Moises Caicedo injury boost ahead of Sunday, 13 July, but it appears that the Ligue 1 champions may have quite the backing when the two clubs meet in three days.

Average attendance at the Club World Cup has been around the 35,000 mark [The Athletic], which has fluctuated massively throughout the group stage, but PSG are taking no chances with their support.

PSG to bring reinforcements to Club World Cup final

Taking to X (10 July) ahead of the Club World Cup final, Bloomberg journalist David Hellier wrote: “More on PSG’s offer to get ultra fans out to the US for the Club World Cup.

“About 700 made it to the semi-final, and more are expected to join for the final against Chelsea. The French club offered travel packages to its hardcore fans at $500 [£368.50].”

Enzo Maresca ready for most difficult Chelsea challenge

Football Insider verdict

Maresca had his back against the wall throughout the 2024/25 campaign, narrowly securing Champions League football on the final day of the season before winning the Europa Conference League.

Now, the Blues are set to face their most difficult opposition yet – the Champions League winners. PSG have shown their class throughout the tournament and will be the favourites on Sunday.

Liam Delap is likely to return from his suspension, though, after Joao Pedro’s performance last time out, it would be extremely harsh for either Delap or Nicolas Jackson to start for the final.

With Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Djordje Petrovic all linked with moves away, focus will need to quickly shift once the final is over.

There are likely more incomings as well, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Man United are set to slash the asking price for Alejandro Garnacho, with the Blues heavily interested.

It is an extremely exciting time at Stamford Bridge, with so much more to come next season, but the manager’s main focus will be on the Club World Cup final against PSG.
