Pundit ‘100 per cent’ sure on Erling Haaland future after journalist’s Man City reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed Erling Haaland will decide when and if to leave Man City regardless of whether there is a release clause in his contract.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested the 23-year-old will be at the Etihad for many years to come as they are “the best team in the world”.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Jack Vaughan (11 October), Haaland has a £175million release clause in his contract at the Etihad.

The clause will apparently be available to trigger at the end of June 2024.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier in the month (6 October), manager Pep Guardiola refuted the suggestion that his star striker has a release clause in his deal.

Haaland’s current contract runs until the end of June 2027.

When asked by Football Insider if Haaland has complete control over his future, Robinson said: “100 per cent.

“A release clause is neither here nor there. He will leave when he wants to leave.

“Where else would he want to go though? He is at one of, if not the best team in the world. I’m sure they are going to win the Premier League and they will also challenge for all of the cups. Where else would he want to go in Europe?

“If anybody could meet his release clause they would do well to find his wages. Not many clubs in Europe could afford him. That is why I think he will be at Man City for the foreseeable future.”
