Pundit ‘100%’ sure on Anthony Gordon transfer after new Everton twist

Gabby Agbonlahor is “100 per cent” sure Everton will not sell Anthony Gordon this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed Gordon is one of the first names on the teamsheet at Everton and is the future of the club.

Football.London reported on Wednesday (29 June) that the 21-year-old was keen on a move to Tottenham and work under Antonio Conte but would not ask to leave Goodison Park.

Tottenham

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reported on Thursday (30 June) that Spurs had cooled their interest in the winger as the Toffees had made it clear he would not be sold.

The two clubs are working on a deal for Richarlison who is expected to become a Tottenham player.

“Anthony Gordon is one of the players who cannot be sold,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He is one of the first names on the teamsheet next season for Everton.

“There are certain players you would sell, you would sell Calvert-Lewin because he’s hot and cold, you would sell Richarlison because he’s hot and cold.

“Gordon, an Under-21 international, he is the future of Everton and I don’t see them selling him unless it’s a silly, silly offer.

“I think he’s a player that Everton will keep, 100 per cent.”

Everton

Gordon still has three years left on his Goodison Park deal after he signed a long-term deal back in 2020.

He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2021-22 as he ended the season with six goal contributions in 25 Premier League starts as Everton narrowly avoided relegation.

In other news, Everton could now sign Georginio Wijnaldum as a transfer decision is made.
