Pundit ‘amazed’ by Man City boss Pep Guardiola after ‘frightening’ Kevin De Bruyne quotes emerge

Paul Robinson is “amazed” Man City manager Pep Guardiola believes there is more to come from Kevin De Bruyne.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said “it is a frightening” to think De Bruyne, 31, has not peaked.

The Belgium international has been in sparkling form in the 2022-23 campaign.

As shown on Beanyman Sports (22 October), Guardiola said his midfield maestro can do better in the aftermath of Saturday’s win over Brighton.

De Bruyne scored a sensational goal in the 3-1 win over the Seagulls at the Etihad.

On 17 October, De Bruyne finished third in the 2022 Ballon d’Or awards behind only Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Guardiola’s comments, Robinson said: “It is amazing to think there is more to come from him.

“He is one of the best Premier League midfielders ever. His numbers prove it. He has five goal involvements in City’s five home games this season. He is performing at the top level on a regular basis. You cannot knock his stats.

“If Guardiola thinks there is more to come… It is a frightening prospect.

“His brains and passing ability coupled with Erling Haaland’s goalscoring ability is almost unstoppable. They will only get to know each other better in the coming years. They already have a telepathy. It is frightening.”
