Pundit ‘amazed’ by update on Liverpool pursuit of ‘perfect’ Bellingham

Jude Bellingham would be a “really exciting addition” as Liverpool look to freshen up their midfield, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 18-year-old would be “very well-suited” to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.

As reported by the Mirror on Tuesday of last week (7 December), Liverpool lead the race to sign Bellingham ahead of a potential move next summer.

The report also claims manager Jurgen Klopp has not been deterred by his old club’s asking price – thought to be around £90million.

Whelan claimed the England midfielder would “complement Liverpool’s front three perfectly”.

“I think Jude Bellingham suits Liverpool down to the ground,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Wow, he’d be an amazing signing for them. When you look at the age of their midfield, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho – they’re getting to the back end of their careers.

“It would be a really exciting addition to that pool of players, and he’s someone who would have that longevity at the club and get better and better.

“I can see him really succeeding under Jurgen Klopp, he’s very well-suited to their style of play and would complement their front three perfectly.

“It’s going to be an interesting battle to see who can come up with the goods to persuade him to come to their club.”

Liverpool

Liverpool are spread thin in midfield following the departure of adored midfielder Gini Wijnaldum in the summer window.

The Anfield club have won each of their last five games to pile the pressure on league leaders Man City.
