Pundit: Antonio Conte may have managed his last Tottenham game – ‘he doesn’t want to be there’
Antonio Conte doesn’t want to be at Tottenham and will not be at the club beyond the end of this season.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Italian’s future.
Tottenham lost 4-2 to Man City on Thursday (19 January), meaning Conte’s side have now won only one of their last five league games.
Spurs will find themselves eight points off the Champions League places if Newcastle beat Crystal Palace on Saturday (21 January).
Former Chelsea boss Conte is only contracted until the end of the current season but Tottenham have the option to extend the deal by another 12 months.
McManus claims Tottenham could relieve Conte of his duties before the end of January if the club’s poor form continues.
“It’s a real puzzler, I don’t understand why it is taking him so long to sign a new deal,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It looks as if he doesn’t want to be there and the way the results are going, I’m not sure Spurs would want to keep him.
“It’s an uncertain situation at Tottenham at the moment. They are conceding a lot of goals, they are losing all of their big games.
“Arsenal battered them at the weekend, it was very comprehensive. I don’t think Conte will be there long so the board have a big decision to make.
“Do they wait until the end of the season and hope he gets them into the top four or do they push the button now and get someone else in?
“I would go now so the new manager has time to get some new players in but that’s just me.

“Poch is always linked with Tottenham, would he want to come back?
“A lot of Spurs fans speak about bringing him back.”
