Pundit baffled by Man United after Casemiro announcement
Alan Hutton has claimed it could be “five seasons” before Man United are competing at the top of the league again.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender doesn’t understand some of the transfer targets United have been linked with.
Erik ten Hag’s side have lost their opening two Premier League games.
On Friday (19 August), the Red Devils confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro, 30.
The move is subject to personal terms being agreed and a medical being completed.
When asked for his assessment of the latest, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it just seems all a little bit random.
“It’s like ‘who can we get in last minute’. It all seems like a second thought. It doesn’t really seem like they’ve sat down and thought out a plan of what they’re doing and how they’re going to move forward. It just seems like they think they need somebody in the building, this isn’t good enough.

“It’s all very random it’s all very strange. I don’t think we’re going to see Manchester United up there competing for seasons at this moment in time. I think they need probably three, four or five transfer windows with the same manager to try and get the plans to move forward and establish the philosophy and get back to where they used to be.
“It’s going to take a lot of time and it’s going to be difficult for the manager and the fans in the upcoming seasons I think.“
