Pundit baffled by Man United after journalist’s Jamie Vardy transfer update
Alan Hutton has applauded Jamie Vardy’s decision to snub a move to Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Leicester City are a better team than United at the moment.
On Saturday (20 August), the Foxes confirmed Vardy has signed a contract extension keeping him at the King Power Stadium until 2024.
On Monday (15 August), The Athletic‘s Adam Crafton reported Erik ten Hag’s side were considering a move for Vardy.
The move is said to have fallen through after the signing of Vardy’s new contract.
When asked by Football Insider if Vardy was right to turn down a move to Old Trafford in favour of staying at the King Power Stadium, Hutton said: “Why, at his age, would he move to Man United?”

“Yes, at one stage they were one of the best teams in world football but they’re in a bad place at this moment in time. So would he really want to go and be part of that for a season or two when he’s doing well where he’s at.
“At this moment in time Leicester are a better football team. Manchester United are going through changes. It’s strange because it seems like everybody they’re going for, the likes of [Marko] Arnautavic, Man United never would have gone for him in the past. Now it just seems like they’re trying to get anybody through the door. “
