Pundit baffled by what he’s heard about Harry Kane – ‘that doesn’t happen at Tottenham’
Criticism aimed at Tottenham striker Harry Kane from some sections of the England fanbase is uncalled for.
That’s according to former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s recent performances.
Kane, 29, started all of England’s World Cup group games but failed to find the back of the net, leading to calls for him to be dropped by a minority of England fans.

Whelan insists the Tottenham star is contributing in other ways despite failing to score.
“I’m not sure that criticism is fair. This guy is one of the best strikers in the world and when you have one of the best strikers in the world then there is a lot of pressure on him to produce,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“As a striker, you have to admit it is all about goals and I’m sure Kane will be looking to be on the scoresheet.
“We saw him start slowly in the European Championships but once he got his goal he went on a bit of a run. I don’t think Harry will be too worried about that.
“As long as England are winning and scoring goals from different areas, that’s exactly what they are doing at the moment.
“Having Kane is huge because the defenders are terrified of him. The defenders will all be looking at him while Foden and Rashford go about their business, That happens at Tottenham as well but the criticism, that doesn’t happen at Tottenham, that’s the difference.

“Kane contributes in so many ways, whether it’s holding up the ball, dropping into midfield, creating space, but his intelligence is second to none.
“Everyone is benefitting from it.”
