Haaland cited as pundit issues Tottenham star reveal – ‘I feel sorry for him’
Frank McAvennie has pointed the finger at the Tottenham midfield after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker said Spurs’ midfielders failed to provide for the likes of Son Heung-min at the Emirates.
Antonio Conte’s side slipped to a 3-1 defat against the Gunners on Saturday (1 October).
As revealed by SofaScore, Son had 27 touches at the Emirates of which none came inside the opposition area.
The South Korea international was replaced by Matt Doherty after 71 minutes of the derby.
When asked by Football Insider if Son’s lack of involvement in the final third was a cause for concern, McAvennie said: “I don’t think it is worrying.
“It was not necessarily Son’s fault. That could be midfielders not finding him.
“When you are under pressure from the opposition it can be tough to break out. Arsenal are so quick and dynamic they did not give the Spurs players a chance to get their head up.

“I feel for Son because his performances are getting microanalyses this season. Look at [Erling] Haaland, there has been games for City where he’s only had a few touches but he has scored. The stats these days are going above and beyond.
“You can do good things to help your teammates without touching the ball. I would blame the midfield rather than Son.”
In other news, an injury expert has claimed Antonio Conte may now have a special request for Hugo Lloris amid the latest from Tottenham.
