Pundit blasts ‘silly’ West Ham players after ‘huge’ Moyes reveal
Paul Robinson has urged West Ham to resist the temptation to revert to a back three in an attempt to plug their leaky defence.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England number one is adamant “individual mistakes and silly errors” are to blame for the Irons problems at the back.
West Ham began the new year with a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace.
As quoted by Football.London (1 January), David Moyes was far from happy with his side’s defending at Selhurst Park.
Moyes revealed he’s “hugely worried” by the lack of clean sheets.
The Hammers have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 games across all competitions.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of West Ham’s defence, Robinson said:
“They could switch to a three but if they did that they would lose their attacking threat. It would cause them to be short in other areas.
“One of West Ham’s big strengths is the midfield. The three in behind Antonio have been brilliant this season, whoever has played. If you play three in behind Antonio with [Tomas] Soucek and [Declan] Rice holding it’s impossible to switch to a back three.

“Individual mistakes and silly errors have cost West Ham goals.
“The way they played at Watford, they looked almost back to their best. It was a good result away at Palace. I know they conceded two but the result is the big thing.”
