Pundit ‘brutally honest’ on Anthony Gordon after journalist’s Man City reveal

Alan Hutton has poured cold water on the idea of Man City signing Anthony Gordon this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Gordon needs to join a team where he will be a “main figure” this season.

According to The Times‘ Paul Joyce (16 August), Pep Guardiola is a fan of the 21-year-old winger.

On Thursday (18 August), this site revealed that Chelsea have offered Everton Billy Gilmour and Michy Batshuayi plus cash for Gordon.

Gordon has three years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.

When asked if City should be trying to sign the winger, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think they’ve got enough if I’m brutally honest.

It’s like any manager, especially if it’s a top team, they always keep an eye open for top talent, especially players from the UK, they want to get those players in through the door.

Man City

Is he going to go to Man City and play? No. He’s a great player but I think Man City are heavily stacked. I think it’s more of a compliment to him to know that someone like that rates you highly.

I think if he was going to leave Everton it will have to be for a team where he’s going to be a main figure, where he’s going to play. You don’t want to just go to Man City to try to be another world class player. I don’t think that would be the best move for him at this moment in time.
