Pundit can’t believe ‘crazy’ thing he’s heard from Liverpool fans after new development

It is only a matter of time before Liverpool return to the form that almost won them the Premier League last season.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ start to the season.

Liverpool were beaten 4-1 by Napoli in their opening Champions League game on Wednesday (7 September).

The Reds have also only won two from six Premier League games this season.

Kenny claims a myriad of factors, including the summer departure of Sadio Mane, are to blame for Liverpool’s slow start.

“I really think they are missing Mane and I am not the only person who thinks that,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“One thing to note is that other teams are dropping points as well. They aren’t miles off the top of the table.

“I think that is important, it is really early in the season and nothing is decided yet. Liverpool are only a few points off the top of the league.

“With Salah, he always starts slow. I don’t think he has ever gone out and been at his best from day one. You hear some crazy things from fans.

“At the minute, it just isn’t clicking for them but it’s Liverpool, it will happen sooner rather than later, it’s just a bit of bad form.

“You could argue that good teams can’t afford to drop points like this but it’s not like their season is over, it’s the start of September.

“There is loads of time and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.”
