Pundit can’t believe ‘strange’ Calvin Ramsay development at Liverpool
Alan Hutton has suggested an injury could be keeping Calvin Ramsay out of the Liverpool preseason touring squad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham defender said there’s “no reason” leave the 18-year-old behind.
On Sunday (10 July), the Reds announced the 37 players that will be travelling to Thailand and Singapore for their preseason tour.
The Scotland international was missing from the travelling squad despite only recently joining Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The right-back put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Liverpool after leaving Aberdeen.
Hutton said an injury could explain the defender’s absence.
“It’s a strange one,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t really know what to make of it unless he’s picked up a niggly injury. It’s the only thing I could possibly think of because what would be the reason to not take him.
“It’s an opportunity to settle into your new club, meet your teammates, get to know the manager, his philosophy and how he wants to play football. There must be something going on.

“I wouldn’t have thought that he’s just signed for the club and then they’re going to send him straight out on loan, without even taking him on pre-season.
“My guess would be maybe he’s picked something up and there’s no point in travelling halfway around the world to do nothing, he’s probably best at home. I’m hoping that it would be that.“
In other news, a pundit has backed Liverpool to sell Joe Gomez within weeks as ‘crazy’ deal agreed.
